Lamar Kanafani is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Family Studies and Child Development from Arizona State University before completing her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of San Diego, California. Over the years, Lamar has worked in private practice, hospital settings, and mental health centers before founding Family Matters Counseling Center in 2018.
With a systemic approach to therapy, Lamar evaluates, diagnoses, and treats clients by considering the interrelated elements of their environment—such as family dynamics, beliefs, roles, and boundaries. She collaborates with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique challenges while fostering growth and resilience.
Lamar provides therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups. She also leads workshops, facilitates parenting courses, and supervises aspiring mental health professionals in their clinical internships. Her expertise spans a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, marital discord, infidelity, guided separation, divorce mediation, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, child behavioral concerns, and adolescent struggles.

Ali Taqi, an ICF Certified Coach, is Bahraini by birth but a true “citizen of the world.” Shaped by diverse cultures and experiences, he brings a broad and well-rounded perspective to coaching. Specializing in Purpose and Transformational Coaching, Ali is passionate about “igniting others to lead the life they deserve.” He earned his Professional Coaching Certification from the International Coaching Academy through an ICF-accredited program (ACTP). His global network of multinational coaches has exposed him to a wide range of coaching principles and practices, enriching his approach to personal and professional development.
Beyond coaching, Ali holds a degree in Computer Science from Concordia University in Montreal. He spent 14 years in large corporate organizations, working across various business functions in multicultural environments. His experience collaborating with professionals from different nationalities has been instrumental in shaping his ability to connect with and empower clients.
Now an entrepreneur, Ali has transitioned from the corporate world to focus on coaching individuals toward personal and professional fulfillment. With a proven track record, he has worked with over 100 entrepreneurs through bespoke one-on-one transformational coaching, as well as seminars, workshops, and training programs. Through international programs, he actively engages with refugee communities and local villages, helping them build sustainable futures—aligning his coaching mission with global impact.
Nour Geha graduated from Lebanese University with a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Speech Therapy in 2015. She has extensive experience working with children in academic settings who face a variety of communication and social challenges, including difficulties expressing emotions and understanding social cues.
Throughout her career, Nour has worked with children facing learning difficulties, dyslexia, stuttering, oral language delays, articulation challenges, and self-expression difficulties. We collaborate with Nour to develop tailored approaches that empower each child to communicate and engage socially confidently.
In addition to working directly with children, Nour engages with parents and caregivers, providing guidance and support to reinforce progress.
Nour’s experience in academic settings has further equipped her to support children in developing essential learning skills. She specializes in identifying the needs of children with varying levels of ability. Passionate about her work, Nour is committed to helping children grow and find their own voices.
Florencia Grasselli Schuijt is a Certified Music Therapist and Neurologic Music Therapy Fellow (NMT-F). Florencia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from San Salvador University (Argentina), and a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. She has more than fifteen years of experience in the field.
Florencia is originally from Argentina, where she worked in the neonatal department of Rivadavia Hospital (Buenos Aires). Then, she moved to the Netherlands, where she worked full-time as a music therapist for 10 years, providing services for children and adults with developmental and neurological challenges. Since 2018, Florencia has lived in Bahrain and has been conducting Music Therapy services for centers and schools.
Florencia works from a neuro-informed, psychodynamic, culturally centered, and client-led perspective. Her expertise includes working with neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals who have developmental, emotional, intellectual, and social challenges.

Dr. Thoraiya Kanafani is a Ph.D. graduate in the Department of Clinical Psychology from the United States. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Concordia University, her first Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from McGill University, and her second Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
After completing her education in Canada and working in many different settings, she moved to the Middle East and has worked in countries such as Bahrain, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. She currently has over fifteen years of experience in the field of psychology and mental health. Her main expertise lies in working with young adults as well as providing psycho-educational assessments for students suspected of learning difficulties or AD/HD.
Dr. Thoraiya also works as an adjunct lecturer of psychology and supervisor of dissertations at Middlesex University, Heriot-Watt University, and previously the American University of Sharjah where she teaches undergraduate and graduate-level psychology courses. Dr. Thoraiya supervises psychology interns at HRIC Dubai as well.
